From June 14 to 18, youth from across Texas and the nation will descend upon Kingsville to compete in the National Junior Santa Gertrudis Heifer Show at the J.K. Northway Exposition Center in Dick Kleberg Park.

This is an annual event held each summer in various locations across the country.

Participants compete for prizes and scholarships in various leadership events, such as public speaking, sales talk, and livestock judging.

The event culminates with the selection of the National Junior Grand Champion Heifer and an awards banquet on June 17 and 18.

Over 150 families and ranchers are expected here for the week, show officials are asking Kingsville to help welcome the participants to Kingsville.

The event is open to the public.
