Dr. Ambrose Anoruo Dr. Ambrose Anoruo, associate dean for research in the College of Agriculture & Related Sciences at Delaware State University, has been selected as dean of the College of Graduate Studies and associate vice president for research at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Anoruo is expected to start his new role with the university July 1.

Anoruo said he plans to promote more research opportunities between faculty, graduate and undergraduate students.

“While research at A&M-Kingsville will be an inclusive fact-finding effort for knowledge on the part of the faculty, it must incorporate graduate and undergraduate education to better diffuse the knowledge and train the 21st century student,” Anoruo said.

Anoruo’s vision for the university’s research and graduate programs include more hands-on, experiential learning, expanding the university’s existing graduate programs, introducing new master’s and doctorate programs and investing resources in recruitment of new graduate students.

“A&M-Kingsville research, whether fundamental or applied, must address the strategic challenges of our country, especially as they affect the State of Texas and our nation at large,” Anoruo said.

“The College of Graduate Studies must therefore be positioned to take advantage of the new research frontier at A&M-Kingsville for graduate education and training.”

Anoruo holds a higher national diploma in forestry from the Federal College of Forest Technology in Ibadan, Nigeria, a master’s in environmental science from Southern Connecticut State University and a master’s in forest ecology and a doctorate in forestry from Yale University.

Additionally, Anoruo has demonstrated proven leadership in a variety of professional and academic roles. He is editor of the Journal of Environmental Monitoring and Restoration, member of the Yale University Leadership Council and serves on the editorial board of the Journal for Sustainable Forestry.
