Cruz C. Mata Cruz C. Mata, 91, of Kingsville, died on June 12, 2010, in Kingsville.

He was born on April 16, 1919, to Augustine and Conception Mata in Premont.

He was a retired maintenance worker with Walter Oil Field Services and a WWII United States Army Veteran POW and former G.I. Forum Member.

Survivors include two daughters, Estella M. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi and Delma M. Gomez of Kingsville; one son, Cruz O. (Norma) Mata Jr.; one sister, Felicidad Mejia of Dallas; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held June 14 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.

A rosary was recited June 14 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass was held June 15 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Thenan officiating.

Burial followed at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.
