Additional Penalty Notices have been mailed out to delinquent taxpayers still owing 2009 taxes, according to Melissa T. De La Garza, Tax Assessor-Collector.

The first tax bills were mailed October 2009.

In accordance with the Texas Property Tax Code, an additional penalty up to 20 percent in attorney’s fees penalty will be attached to the 2009 taxes, penalty and interest if taxes are not paid by June 30.

“Please understand that this notice concerns only the 2009 taxes,” the tax assessorcollector said.

“If you have reason to believe that you owe additional taxes for years prior to 2009, you may request a full statement from the tax office,” De La Garza said.

Payment options for taxpayers are available. MasterCard, Visa, and Discover are also accepted.
