Pct. 2 residents invited to crime prevention meeting

Kleberg County Precinct 2 Constable Omar Rosales has issued an invitation to the citizens of Precinct 2 to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Precinct 2 office, corner of Third Street and Santa Gertrudis Avenue, to discuss concerns of the community and initiate a neighborhood watch program in the precinct.

Rosales said he believes that having an organized neighborhood watch could also potentially help reduce crime in the community.

“In other communities it has been proven to be a very effective program to prevent many crimes such as burglaries, assaults and drug dealing,” Rosales said.

“Those involved in a neighborhood watch tend to get to know their neighbors and recognize when something or someone is suspicious,” he said.

“Burglaries, both residential

and automotive, are at the top of the list of crimes that have been committed in our precinct according to information given to me by the Kingsville Police Department,” Rosales said.

An insurance agent and a police officer will answer questions about crime prevention and the neighborhood watch. For more information, contact Rosales at 595-8571 or email pct2constablekleberg@ yahoo.com.
