Nine fifth and sixth grade girls of Girl Scout Troop 9219 have earned their Girl Scout Bronze Awards.

Kylee Szteiter, Kaylen Garza, Leah Peterson, Kate Remelius, Lexy Webb, Kylie McIntosh, Elizabeth Sanchez, Destinie Galindo, and Maya IƱiguez completed a community service project by sewing bags, filling them with craft activities, and donating them to children in the Brush County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) advocacy program.

Completing this project taught the girls skills in fundraising, sewing, and service.

Kylie McIntosh and Leah Peterson said through earning this award, they learned “how to care for children in need and how to get involved in the community.”

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award for Girl Scout Juniors.

This award requires the girl to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community.

Working towards this award demonstrates her commitment to helping others, improving her community and the world, and becoming the best she can be.

Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas serves over 17,000 girls in a 26 county jurisdiction with service centers in Laredo, Corpus Christi, Victoria, and the Rio Grande Valley.

The Girl Scout Mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
