Not pictured is Sharla Irby. The 2010 South Texas Rage Softball Team participated in the Texas ASA 16&U Class “A” State Championship recently and came home state champions.

There were 26 teams from across the State of Texas competing in the double elimination tournament.

Last year S.T. Rage came in 2nd place in the state tournament.

The team is made up of girls from Bishop H.S., Kingsville Academy H.S., Riviera H.S., Hebbronville H.S., Calhoun H.S., and Lyford H.S.

Winning the state championship now qualifies the South Texas Rage to compete in the USA / ASA 16&U Class “A” National Tournament to be held in College Station from August 1st to 8th with an anticipated 164 teams competing.

The coaches attribute the team’s success to strong pitching, great defense, and solid hitting.

They also praise all 14 girls on the team who contributed to the first place victory in a true team effort.
