Margaret Ferol Newsom Jackson

Margaret Ferol Newsom Jackson, a longtime Bishop resident, went to be with our Lord on July 7, 2010, at the age of 92 ½ yrs. She was born on January 5, 1918 in Marquez, Leon County, Texas, to John William and Luah Edna Reed Newsom. She married James Aaron Jackson on December 25, 1938.

Margaret considered faith and family her foundation. She shared her love of cooking, banana pudding and homemade bread, with many friends and family. She was an avid reader and read the entire Bible multiple times. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing and crocheting for her children and grandchildren. She was a child care provider for many families. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and friend.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Thelma Lea Woods, and a nephew,David Russell Woods.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ferol Jackson Webb (Stanley) of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Keith Webb (Andrea), Jennifer Webb Jordan (Byron); great-grandsons,Ayden Webb and Spencer Webb, Zachary Jordan and Kyle Jordan; her daughter, Laura Jean “Jeannie” Jackson Skrobarcek (Dennis) of Bishop, Texas; grandchildren, Wayman Fielder and Laura Fielder Kieschnick (Michael); greatgrandchildren, Shalianne Fielder, Kayla Fielder, Megan Fielder, Kaden Fielder, and Laura Margaret “Greta” Kieschnick, Kallen Kieschnick, and Lane Kieschnick. Margaret was blessed to have one great-great grandson, Jayden David Caldera; her son,James “Buddy” Jackson (Tina) of Sweeny, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Jackson (Carrie), Hallie Jackson James (John), Ferol Jackson Cook (Reese).

Margaret had 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. She was proud of her family and was a wonderful example to each of us.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas. Burial was held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Marquez Cemetery in Marquez, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Chruch, (311 E. 5th St. Bishop, Texas 78343), South Texas Children’s Home, (P.O. Box 1210, Beeville, TX, 78104-1210) or to the charity of your choice.
