Head Coach Ed Gonzales, who has been at H.M. King for 25 years, complimented all 47 of the camp’s participants who worked diligently during the first three-week session.
One of the camp’s biggest areas of focus, Gonzales mentioned, came in stroke production. Numerous drills were introduced with the intention of improving each individual’s game skills.
Advanced and intermediate players also competed in singles and doubles match play, during practices, while beginners were introduced to the basics such as forehands, backhands, net volleys and serves.

The final tournament served as an introduction to competitive play for beginners.
Advanced and intermediate players used the finale as a method of keeping their competitive edge before facing other schools in dual meets in September.
Gonzales stressed the importance of summer workouts especially for high school and middle school tennis players who compete pretty much during the entire academic year.
“The summer is an ideal time for players to improve on their tennis game,” Gonzales said.
