Kingsville grants special use permit for commercial recycling center here

The City of Kingsville has approved a special use permit for ABC Recycling to operate a recycling business who will be operating at a new location.

The new recycling center will relocate to an existing vacant building that is located at 708 South Sixth Street in the C2 Commercial Zoning District.

The applicant, Larry Lopez of Corpus Christi, plans to use the storage yard to place a semi-truck trailer that will be loaded with the aluminum cans and metals. The recycling center also plan to recycle old appliances, such as washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, and other items at this location.

ABC Recycling will recycle old batteries and this will be done in accordance with state environmental regulations.

Customers will enter from Johnson Street to drive into the building to make dropoffs and this will avoid traffic safety issues with trying to enter Sixth Street.

ABC Recycling has been operating a small recycling business using a semi-truck trailer in the HEB parking lot on the south side of King Street for a couple of years.

The recycling owner has to comply with certain conditions required by the City of Kingsville before opening the business. Ken Clark, City of Kingsville Director of Development Services, said this recycling center will help residents by taking in old appliances that are sometimes dumped on vacant property.
