Shorty “Eloy” Narvaez, 51, of Premont, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at his residence in Premont.

Narvaez was born to Pedro Narvaez and Maria Paula Gutierrez Narvaez in Refugio.

He was a self-employed construction contractor.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Abernathy of Premont; three sons, Adam Abernathy of Corpus Christi, Brandon Lemus of Premont, and Eloy Narvaez, Jr. of Oregon; five brothers, Armando Narvaez of Bishop, Robert (Anna) Jones of Alice, Robert (Mandy) Narvaez of Ricardo, Rene (Theda) Narvaez of Corpus Christi, Pedro Jr. (Christina) Narvaez of Benton, Ark.; three sisters, Gloria (Procopio) Gutierrez of Bishop, Janie Manson of Premont, and Cynthia (Ramiro) Gaitan of Premont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday July 21 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias, with visitation starting at 5 p.m.
