Kleberg County Republican Party Chairman Connie Cashen was honored by the Texas Federation of Republican Women at the

Tribute to Women Brunch” sponsored by Comptroller Susan Combs on June 11, 2010 at the Republican Party

Texas Convention in Dallas.

She was nominated by the local Kleberg County Republican Women’s Club.

In 2003 South Texas was considered to be solidly Democratic area. During that year Cashen agreed to work as an election judge and to serve as a Precinct Chairman.

She was instrumental in forming the Kleberg County Republican Women’s Club in 2004 and was elected the first Political Action Committee PAC) Treasurer of the club.

In 2006 she was elected President of the Kleberg County Republican Women’s Club and later as the PAC Treasurer again.

When she ran and was elected be the Kleberg County Republican Party Chairman in 2008, she served as the Newsletter Chair for the Club. At the 2008 State GOP Convention, she not only was a delegate, but she also served as the Secretary for both her Senatorial District and Congressional District Caucuses. Earlier this year she was reelected to serve as the Kleberg County Republican Party Chairman.

Because of Cashen’s leadership, involvement, and recruitment efforts, the Republican Party believes Kleberg County now is definitely a two-party county with a strong, sound, growing Republican force in South Texas.
