HAPPY BIRTHDAY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Consuelo Alvarez, 103 years old, celebrated another birthday this year. She was honored with a birthday party July 14, 2010 by the Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she lives. She was married to the late Ernesto Alvarez and the couple had six children, Olga, Irma, Sylvia, Gilbert, Oscar and Ernesto. Oscar and Ernesto are deceased. Consuelo Alvarez has 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her advice to a long life is “to work hard, be patient and love and respect others.” Mrs. Alvarez was recognized at the Alvarez Reunion held July 17 at the Henrietta Memorial Center where descendants of Francisca Alvarez, known as the Angel of Goliad gathered. She was seen enjoying a barbecue plate that included brisket, sausage, potato salad and beans. She also received a birthday cake at the event.
