TEAM THUNDER BRINGS HOME SECOND PLACE BANNER — The Brush Country Girls Softball 6U Thunder team competed in a 16-team national tournament held July 27 through Aug. 1, 2010, in Round Rock and brought home the runner-up tournament banner. On Saturday team Thunder was one of six teams left standing and were able to advance to the tourney finals game. Team Thunder was now facing an undefeated Austin team for the championship. After losing the first game the Thunder bounced back to win game two 11-5. They moved on to a deciding game three, but lost by three runs. Thunder 6U made history by bringing a first ever banner home to Kingsville. Team member Carissa De Los Santos hit four homeruns throughout the tournament and was awarded four autographed softballs as souvenirs. Team member Azaria Sanchez also hit two homeruns throughout the tournament and was awarded two autographed softballs as souvenirs.
