The Coastal Bend Rural Health Partnership in collaboration with Coastal Plains MHMR and Community Action Corporation of South Texas will host the second annual Together We Stand, Educating our Vision of the Future, mental health conference at the Student Union Building of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, on Friday and Saturday Oct. 8-9, 2010.
The Partnership’s role in mental health transformation brought consumers, family members and providers together to form a group called Voices Leadership Group (VLG).
VLG’s mission is to promote leadership and trust by educating and informing the community to better understand what it is to live with mental health challenges.
Numerous Mental Health topics geared to youth of the Coastal Bend of South Texas will be discussed.
Mental health topics will include: schools and education, law enforcement, substance abuse and tobacco prevention, peer support, family support and much more.
Guest speakers from across the country will be speaking and presenting workshops throughout the conference.
Special VIP tours of city landmarks, art walk tours and other activities are planned for the conference.
General admission is free to the public, exhibitors are welcome and CEU’s are currently pending.
