Albert Wright
Albert Wright, 91, of Kingsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, in Kingsville.
He was born on Oct. 25, 1918, to Lida and Newt Wright.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Grimes Wright; son, Jesse (Diana) Grimes; daughter, Betty (Keaton) Myers; daughter, Barbara (Leroy) Dunk; and son, AR “Dick” Wright Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and two greatgreat grandchildren.
He worked selling newspapers for the Caller Times at the age of 9 and never looked back. As an adult he spent many years working for Alamo Iron Works and later went on to own and operate Wright Plumbing Company. He did commercial plumbing work during the construction of many buildings in South Texas, including NAS Kingsville, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Spohn Hospital, and numerous school and business projects.
As a boy he attended Incarnate Word Academy and later attended Del Mar College. As a businessman and civic leader, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Jaycees, A.G.C. of Texas and the Knights of Columbus.
A rosary was recited by Deacon Richard Costley on Aug. 20 at the Turcotte- Piper Mortuary Chapel in Kingsville.
A memorial funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Piotr Koziel as celebrant and assisted by Deacon Richard Costley.
Special thanks to the staff of Odyssey Health Care, Dr. OJ Rodriguez and Dr. Delia Quisenberry. Your fine medical care helped Albert through the most difficult year of his life.
