Former Kleberg County Sheriff Adan Munoz, who is now the executive director of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, was indicted by a Nueces County grand jury last week and is facing charges of misuse of official information, a third degree felony.

The two-count indictment was handed down in connection with two open records request from news media for information on an apparent suicide at the Nueces County Jail. Munoz, 62, was not available for comment.

He has not been arrested, but has retained prominent Corpus Christi attorney Rene Rodriguez.
