RUBBLE — The old ‘Excellence In Education’ sign that appeared above the front entrance of the school becomes part of the rubble. Many onlookers gathered in front of the demolition site to witness and take photos and video of the demolition. Those watching remembered Lillion E. Luehrs, a long time dedicated educator in which the school was named after. Superintendent Christina Gutierrez said on Tuesday that the old Bishop High School, now the new junior high school, will carry over the name Lillion E. Luehrs Junior High School.
DEMOLITION — After the debris is cleared away, this site will be the home of six to eight new tennis courts, bleachers, concession stand, and public restrooms.
