OPERATION SOS

OPERATION SOS — The Kleberg County Sheriff’s Department held a benefit barbecue cook-off recently and raised over $800 that was used to purchase school supplies for area youth. Sheriff Ed Mata said the project focused on essentials, such as paper, folders, glue, pens, markers and pencils. Officials from Kingsville ISD, Ricardo ISD, and Riviera ISD were on hand Wednesday to accept the donations, which will be distributed to their individual schools. This was the first annual giveaway and plans are underway for a bigger event next year.
