Parents of TAMUK students can get in on Javelina Pride!
Javelina Pride doesn’t end at the campus boundaries. It continues through alumni, throughout the community and even with the parents of students. It is because of this pride that officials at Texas A&M University- Kingsville are starting a new organization, the Javelina Parents’ Association.
“It is important to involve everyone in the education process,” said Dr. Steven Tallant, university president. “We have the support of the faculty, staff and students on campus and the surrounding area. Now we need to make sure the parents of our biggest asset feel like they belong to the ever-growing community that is Javelina Pride.”
“We are inviting parents who have students attending Texas A&M-Kingsville to show their Javelina Pride by becoming some of the first to join the Javelina Parents’ Association in its inaugural year,” Dr. Terisa Remelius, vice president for student affairs, said.
“The purpose of the new group is to provide parents with resources that will help children be successful in college and to keep parents informed of what is happening on campus,” she added.
There are many benefits of becoming a member of the Javelina Parents’ Association, including early invitations to campus events like Family Weekend and discounts at those events, and an electronic copy of the association newsletter and special offers for scholarship drawings for children who are enrolled. Members also will receive a Javelina Parents’ Association bumper sticker.
There are no membership dues this first year.
