Raul G. Garza Raul G. Garza Raul G. Garza, 80, of Kingsville, passed away April 17, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by family.

He was born and raised in Kingsville.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, Retired Kingsville Independent School District principal, former KISD board member and a Kleberg County Hospital board member.

Garza was also involved in the State Ombudsman Program. He was a retired caseworker for Kleberg County Senior Citizens, a local author, and a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church and St. Martin’s Mutualistas.

He is preceded in death by his son, Raul Garza Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Angelica G. Garza of Kingsville; sister-in-law, Maria Castro of Kingsville; one brother, Arnoldo (Dora) Garza of Houston; one son, Rene Garza of Kingsville; four daughters, Diana L. Garza; Maria Rosario “Chi” (Kelly) Foster and Rose Perez, all of Kingsville; Francisca G. (Josue) Carrillo of Laredo; six grandchildren, Amanda Lea Garza (Mandie), Sarah Marie Acuna, Dyanna Rose Acuna, Rene Garza Jr. (R.J.), Sabreena Daun Garza, Joshua Carrillo; three great-grandchildren, Gabriella Anysse Garza, Joaquin Andres Garza and Mireya Cora Aguilar; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation took place April 19 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home in Kingsville.

A rosary was recited April 19 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church with Father Naul Ordonez officiating.

Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.
