TAMUK named in top 20 percent of colleges

Texas A&M University-Kingsville is in the top 20 percent of all colleges across the nation, according to the Forbes 2011 List of America’s Top Colleges.

The list, which ranks the top 650 private and public undergraduate colleges in the country, ranked A&MKingsville 499. Also of note:

• Of the 29 private and public universities from Texas, A&M-Kingsville ranked 16th.

• The list includes 17 public Texas universities. A&MKingsville is ranked 6th among public Texas universities.

• A&M-Kingsville is ranked 174th in the nation for research.

“We are incredibly proud to be included in Forbes’ list as one of the top undergraduate institutions in the nation,” said A&M-Kingsville President Dr. Steven Tallant. “Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to provide our students with excellent, quality education and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Our overall ranking and our ranking as the 6th Texas public university on the list reflects our commitment to the students we serve.”

Rankings are based on quality of teaching, career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of student debt—qualities that the magazine notes “matter most to students.” The rankings are prepared exclusively for Forbes by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.
