Kingsville teen gets the go-ahead on project


The Jim Wells County Commissioner’s Court approved an Eagle Scout service project proposal from a Kingsville teen on March 23. Kingsville’s Troop 186 Eagle Scout candidate Nico Recio of Premont appeared before County Judge Arnoldo Saenz and commissioners of Jim Wells County with a presentation to request approval for a project to improve handicap accessibility to sidewalks located in downtown Premont at the public library and county park. The 15-minute presentation included a description of materials, supplies, cost, phases, safety issues, regulatory specifications and an explanation on how the project could benefit the community. Recio spent six months researching the project, which was approved unanimously by commissioners.
