A variety of activites have been planned in Kingsville to commemorate Memorial Day.
On Monday, May 27, the Kleberg County Veterans Association and the Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery Association invite the community to attend a special ceremony at the cemetery beginning at 11 a.m.
The guest speaker for the event will be Maj. Raul Rosales, USMC (Ret.).
A second ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, located at 2502 E. Kenedy Ave. That event is hosted by the American Legion Post. No. 99, the Disabled Veterans Chapter No. 203, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2375, and H-E-B.
That event will included food, refreshments and music, along with a small program.
For more information on either of those events, contact Arturo Pecos at (361) 595-8552 or Rolando Chapa at (361) 675-0737.
At 3 p.m., the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra will host a patriotic celebration concert in Jones Auditiorium on the campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
This concert is typically held around July 4, but was moved to Memorial Day this year because of ongoing construction at the university.
The concert will feature soprano and host Melinda Brou and guest conductor Scott Jones.
Activite duty and veterans are admitted for free.
