Crystal meth seized from home on First Street

Officers with the Kingsville Police Department found 23 bags of crystal methamphetamine and 49 Xanax pills in a home on First Street during a raid last Thursday.

On June 6, the Kingsville Police Department’s Street Level Operations Team, SWAT unit and the Detective Division conducted a search warrant in the 1700 Block of North First Street. During the search, officers located 38.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine which was individually packaged into 23 plastic bags, 13.6 grams of Xanax (49 pills) packaged in five separate bags, a digital scale with methamphetamine residue and packaging materials for drug distribution. According to a press release from the department, the contraband was located in the living room, kitchen area and master bedroom.

Juan “Johnny” Manuel Garcia, 38, was arrested and charged with one felony count and one state jail felony count of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

According to the department, Garcia cooperated with investigators during the search and told officers he was on parole through 2036.

The search warrant was signed by County Court at Law Judge Jaime Carrillo. The investigation had been ongoing for several months.

“We ask the citizens to take an active role in providing information to the Street Level Operations team by contacting the Team Supervisor Lt. Daniel Gonzalez at (361) 593-8842 with any suspicious activity taking place in their neighborhood,” Capt. Mark Frost said. “The calls can be anonymous. Please provide the activity being witnessed and the correct address of the suspicious activity.”
