Roberto “Bobby” Salazar

H.M. King High School and Memorial Middle School band director Roberto “Bobby” Salazar resigned from the Kingsville Independent School District after he was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance earlier this month.

KISD Superintendent Elida Bera confirmed Salazar’s resignation Tuesday.

According to a police report from the Kingsville Police Department obtained through an open records request, Salazar was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, when he was allegedly found to be in possession of seven Adderall pills during a traffic stop in the 200 block of E. Johnson Avenue.

Without a valid prescription, Adderall, an amphetamine, is considered an illegal controlled substance.

Salazar was charged with possession of a controlled substance PG2 - one gram or more but less than four grams, a third degree felony. He was transported to the Kleberg County Jail, but was released on bond the same day.
