The Progresso Fire Ants invaded Javalina Stadium on Friday night to do battle with Santa Gertrudis Academy on the Lions’ homecoming night, but when the final seconds ticked off the scoreboard the Lions had squished the Fire Ants by a score of 35-0. The win improved Academy’s record to 3-5 on the season before they head into Friday night’s showdown with Falfurrias on the road.

The stories of the night centered around the outstanding defense of the Lions and the stellar play of sophomore receiver No. 16 Audi Benitez. Benitez had a fantastic night rushing and receiving, as he scored three touchdowns and had 99 yards receiving on the night.
