On June 28, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick appointed Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. (D-Brownsville) to the 2021 Redistricting Committee.
"It is an honor to have been appointed to this important committee," Sen. Lucio said. "I will work tirelessly to ensure that the best interests of southern and coastal communities are appropriately represented in our upcoming redistricting process."
As part of the 17-member committee unveiling Lt. Gov. Patrick said, “This critical committee is bipartisan and includes senators from every region of our state."
Lt. Gov. Patrick went on to say that he is confident "this committee will do the hard work that needs to be done to successfully complete the senate redistricting process in our rapidly growing state.”
While looking at the bipartisan makeup of the redistricting committee Sen. Lucio said, "An excellent group of senators will work on the redistricting process which will guide the drafting of the legislative and congressional maps governing the elections in our state in the upcoming decade."
"The future of our fast-growing region requires that it has a strong voice in the 2021 redistricting process. That is why I am extremely thankful for the trust Lt. Gov. Patrick has shown in allowing me to be part of this important and influential committee," Sen. Lucio added.
