Media teacher Ovidio Barbour is injected with his first Moderna shot at H.M. King on Tuesday by a school nurse. 

Thanks to the efforts of Kleberg County Judge Rudy Madrid, Kleberg County Sheriff Richard Kirkpatrick and KISD Superintendent Dr. Cissy Perez, area school districts received a real shot in the arm on Tuesday when area teachers, administrators and support staff received the first inoculation of the Moderna vaccine.

At H.M. King High School, 198 vaccines were available as cafeteria workers, teachers, custodians and administrators all received the first dose in the school’s nursing office. At other KISD campuses, the vaccine was available to put needles in arms to the teachers and staff as well.
