Texas A&M University-Kingsville officials released a statement notifying campus personnel of two individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The two new cases are a staff member and student who were last on campus on June 18.

The student is currently in isolation in another county, and both cases are unrelated, officials said.

“As part of contact tracing protocol, the Texas Department of State Health Services Region 11 should contact any individuals believed to have had close contact with the positive cases. Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19 for 10-15 minutes.

“As a proactive measure, the University currently is working to identify members of the campus community who may have been in close contact with the positive cases.“

Officials said members of the campus community are encouraged to continue to self-monitor and are encouraged to get tested should they begin to exhibit symptoms of COVID-19.
