A 22-year-old woman was killed last week when the motorcycle she was driving was struck by another vehicle on the south side of Kingsville.

Kingsville Police Commander Bradley Lile said Wednesday Tania Blair, 22, was driving a Honda motorcycle eastbound on General Cavazos Boulevard in front of Wal-Mart shortly before 1 p.m. May 8.

The motorcycle was struck by a silver Ford Edge driven by a 67-year-old woman. Lile said an initial investigation determined the driver of the Ford Edge failed to yield when entering the roadway.

The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and there was no indication she was speeding, Lile said.

A Kingsville police officer and emergency medical technicians from Nueces County were on scene before emergency vehicles were able to respond and attempted CPR, Lile said. However, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead in the Christus Spohn Hospital-Kleberg Emergency Room.

The name of the driver of the Ford Edge has not been released, as the accident is still under investigation. As of Wednesday, no charges had been filed in the case.
