Jose Humberto ‘Beto’ Cavazos

Jose Humberto “Beto” Cavazos, 91, of Kingsville, TX passed away on Aug. 20, 2021 in Kingsville. 

He was born on April 16, 1930 in Kingsville, to Manuel and Ofelia Cavazos.

He was a vocational teacher (auto paint and body) and a member of St. Martin Catholic Church. He was also an avid baseball player with the semi-pro teams, The Kingsville Wildcats and King Ranch Cowboys. He was recognized and honored by the Tejano Roots and selected to the Hall of Fame for contributions to Tejano Music.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrudis Z. “Tula” Cavazos; and one brother, Manuel Cavazos. 

Survivors include one son, Jose H. “Sonny” (Rebecca) Cavazos of Houston; two daughters, Maria I. “Marydall” (David) Del Bosque of Kingsville, and Edna (Bill) Bullard of Montgomery, TX; one sister, Maria Ofelia “Baby” Garza of Austin; grandsons, Edward (Linda) Cavazos, Humberto Cavazos, Michael (Jenny) Cavazos, Greg (Jessica) Del Bosque,” Julio Humberto “Bruizer” (Julia) Del Bosque; granddaughters, Lorraine (John) Wolf, Nicki (Roel) Garcia, Amanda (James) Perales, and Ashley Bullard; step-grandchildren, Orlando (Rhonda) Franco, Jimmie (Diana) Castro, and Olinda (Wes) Kolarik.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 from 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin’s Catholic Church.

A private Rosary was held on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin’s Catholic Church.

A private Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Martin’s Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating.

Burial followed at Chamberlain Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
