Maria Elosia Vela

Maria Eloisa Vela, 85, of Sarita died on Aug. 31, 2020. She was born on May 29, 1935 in Hebbronville, Texas to Juan Salinas and Genoveva Herrera. Mrs. Vela was a housewife. 

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will dearly be missed by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Abelardo (Lalo) Vela, sons, Martin Vela and  Eduardo Vela; and parents Juan Salinas and Genoveva Herrera and brothers, Emilio Salinas, Amador Salinas and Amadeo Salinas .

She is survived by daughters, Lupita V. (Charlie) Guerra of Rivera; Melinda (Rale)  Vela of Sarita and Merida Herrera of Bishop; and sons, Tepo (Betty) Vela of Sarita, Juan (Letty) Vela of Sarita and Abelardo (Lisa) Vela Jr. of Kingsville; Siblings, Elida De Leon and Soila Salinas of Falfurrias, Tomasita Peña of Austin, Juan M. Salinas of Falfurrias, Jesse Luna of Kingsville, Cesario Salinas of Encino and 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. 

Visitation was held on Sept. 6, 2020 at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home, with a rosary that evening at 7 p.m. A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Riviera Cemetery.
