Richard “Rico” Valadez Trevino Jr. passed away on January 16, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Tx. surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 12, 1946 to Maclovia Valadez Trevino and Ricardo Trevino Sr.
He was raised in Alice, TX with twelve other siblings. He attended Alice schools until he graduated from Alice High School in 1964. He served in the Army National Guard and started work as an orderly for PNS Hospital in Alice,TX. He then became a pilot for Cessna Airplanes and served as a reserve deputy for Jim Wells County Sheriff’s office under Sheriff Monroe Calvin Whitman. He then worked for Exxon Mobile for 33 years at the King Ranch gas plant and attended Texas A&I during his employment with the company. After retiring from Exxon, he worked in collections for Kingsville Community Federal Credit Union and then Right of Way Services for many years, thereafter. Rico was President of the Alice American Little League and was also the head coach for his sons baseball teams for many years. He was very involved in politics and ran for County Commissioner in both Jim Wells and Kleberg Counties.
In his free time, Rico enjoyed umpiring, coaching little league baseball teams and playing golf. He loved playing the guitar, singing and dancing with all his family and loved making memories. He loved to travel and watch his children and grandchildren play sports. He was an excellent handyman and a jack of all trades. He also collected antique tractors. Rico was a very loving, caring, and devoted father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend. He was very friendly and he never met a stranger. He was a hard worker and dedicated his life to loving and caring for his family unconditionally.
He is preceded in death by both his parents; his son, Adrian Trevino; brothers, Alfredo V. and Arnoldo V. Trevino; and sisters, Guadalupe V., Imelda Belen, and Gloria Diana (infant) Trevino.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Trevino; two children, Token Lee Trevino (AJ), Richard Trevino III (Suzie); two step-children, Cruz Enrique Aguilar (Debra), Carlos Aguilar (Eric); four grandchildren, Adrian Richard Rivera, Allexus Victoria Munoz, Richard Marcos Trevino, Abrianna Lee Trevino; three great grandchildren, Madelyn Isabella, Adriana Cristela, and Tobias Luke Trevino; four brothers, Rolando, Jose Oscar, Ramiro, and Basilio (Donna) Trevino; and four sisters, Olivia Trevino, Lesvia Benavides, Corina Garcia, and Sandra (Robert) Gomez.
