Rogelio A. Santiago, 74, passed away on Nov. 28, 2019 in Corpus Christi. He was born on May 21, 1945 in Zambales, Philippines to Tiburcio C. Santiago and Nominanda Arlantico.
Rogelio was a proud Vietnam veteran and he was retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. He was a member of the St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Fil-American Association, Last Patrol and the American Legion in Kingsville. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren, storytelling and talking with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronchester Santiago; and numerous brothers.
Rogelio is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Simeona Santiago of Kingsville; three children, Rogelio (Angela) Santiago Jr. of Calallen, MaryAnn (Troy) Nelson of Austin, Catherine Santiago of Austin; two brothers, Medardo Santiago of Philippines and Ruben Santiago of McHenry, Ill.; three sisters, Lolita Calbang of Philippines, Analiza Pragola of Philippines, and Remedios Atienza of McHenry, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
