At Monday’s Kingsville City Commission meeting, the Commission voted to change the substance of an agreement the City had previously reached with Kleberg County in regard to the paving of a parking lot at the J.K. Northway Exposition Center.

In its simplest form, the City had agreed to pay not more than $158,998 for the hot mix for the paving of the parking lot, with City staff and equipment used to do the repaving. This agreement had been explained to Commission members in budget workshops, at open meetings, and had been the subject of discussion at some meetings prior to the 2022 general election.
