It’s 2:27 a.m. on Saturday morning, and I have to get out of bed. It’s the morning of the Ranch Hand Breakfast, and I promised Nick Harrell I would be at the Ranch to watch him start the fire that would produce all the hot coals to keep the food for the Breakfast hot when the crowds came. I was getting up after just three hours of sleep, and not even the hot shower woke me up. Heck, I was still tired from covering the lighting of the Christmas tree and Holiday Wine Sip and Shop event just a few hours before.
3:15 a.m. These old bones arrive at the main gate of the King Ranch, and the security man waves me through. He had a huge smile on his face when he waved me on. Maybe he was laughing at the tired look in my eyes.
