The volleyball season has kicked into gear and the standings are beginning to take shape in the first action of district play for all area teams.

The Bishop Lady Badgers and Santa Gertrudis Academy Lady Lions find themselves in a four-way tie for third place in District 31-3A with San Diego and Falfurrias, as each team sits with a record of 3-3.

The Lady Badgers dropped a contest against Falfurrias Tuesday night in a game that went five sets.

The games went 25-16, 22-25, 26-24, 19-25 and 16-14.

The Lady Badgers’ next matchup on Friday will be against San Diego on the road, starting with the freshman game at 5:00 p.m.

Bishop lost their previous contest to San Diego in three sets back on Aug. 20. 

The Lady Lions were on the right side of a sweep, beating the San Diego Lady Vaqueros in Tuesday’s matchup, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-13.

Next up for SGA is Hebbronville at 5 p.m. on Friday. 

The Lady Lions beat the Lady Longhorns in straight sets in their first matchup in August.

The H.M. King Lady Brahmas are currently at the bottom of the standings in District 31-4A, with a record of 0-3.

They lost in a road game to Orange Grove in Tuesday’s matchup, 13-25, 14-25 and 13-25, in three sets.

The Lady Brahmas will face Robstown on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The Riviera Lady Seahawks won their first District 32-2A matchup against San Isidro in five sets Tuesday night, 14-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-12.

The Lady Seahawks’ next game will be against San Perlita at home Friday at 4:30 p.m.
