The Bishop football program is now in search of a new head coach after Joe Rios and the school recently agreed to mutually part ways.

Rios said in an interview Wednesday afternoon the decision was tough to make, however, "I just think it was time to move on."

"I want to thank the Bishop community, my players and my coaches for all of their support," Rios said.

Rios had a record of 22-30 while at the helm of the program. He took over as head football coach in 2015.

In a phone interview on Wednesday morning, Bishop boy's Athletic Director George Luna said the search for a new head football coach is underway, and they will seek applicants for the position until Feb. 21.

Luna said they are hoping to fill the position as soon as the beginning of March.
