Brahmas have turnover woes, lose to Mustangs.
The H.M. King Brahmas (0-3) gave up four turnovers to the Ingleside Mustangs (1-2) on the road and dropped the week 3 matchup, 26-42.
On the Brahmas' opening drive, Lupe Cavazos wheeled right, threw the ball into coverage and was intercepted by Damien Davila of the Mustangs.
On the ensuing drive, the Mustangs scored on a Seth Ruff six-yard run to go up 0-7.
The Brahmas marched down the field 57-yards on the next drive, capped off by back-to-back runs by Cavazos for more than 39-yards to score the first touchdown of the game for the Bulls.
The black and gold missed the PAT and the Mustangs remained in the lead, 6-7.
The Mustangs answered on the following drive, as Bobby Gonzalez was given the ball on an end-around play for an 18-yard touchdown run, setting the score at 6-14.
The Brahmas once again answered on the second play of the second quarter, as Cavazos connected with Tarance Carter on a 62-yard touchdown throw.
Ethan Bazan punched it in for two-points on the next play to tie it up at 14 apiece.
Two drives later, the Brahmas were near the end zone, but fumbled the ball inside the five, which was recovered by the Mustangs.
Ingleside capitalized on the turnover and scored after a 96-yard drive, and took the lead into the locker room at the half, 14-21.
After the intermission, Ruff, on the first play from scrimmage to start the half, scored on a 58-yard run to the end zone, to increase the Mustangs' lead, 14-28.
After three drives, Cavazos was intercepted by the Mustangs' Christopher Acosta, who returned the pick for a touchdown.
Although the Brahmas were able to add a score on a touchdown throw from Cavazos to Carter for 65-yards, the following drive the Mustangs added one more touchdown pass to their stat sheet as Ruff connected with Bobby Gonzalez on a 31-yard pass.
The Bulls scored on a Bazan three-yard run the next drive, but it was not enough to make the comeback.
The Brahmas got a late interception by Sergio Gonzalez to give the Brahmas one last shot to put points on the board, but Gonzalez was intercepted on the next drive while playing quarterback to ice the game, 26-42.
Up next for the Brahmas are the Robstown Cottonpickers on the road, at 7:30 p.m.
Robstown beat the Banquete Bulldogs Friday in a come-from-behind victory 20-15.
Lions fall to Red Ants in close game
The Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions (0-2) lost to the Progreso Red Ants (2-1) in a close contest, 14-7.
A blocked punt by the Lions set up their lone score of the night, which belonged to George Santana Jr. on a three-yard touchdown run.
The Lions look to recover against the Odem Owls next Friday on the road at 7:30 p.m.
The Owls lost tonight to Ganado, 23-0.
Seahawks comeback in second half not enough
The Riviera Seahawks (1-2) were down early to the Charlotte Trojans (2-1), and were unable to recover, despite a comeback effort.
The Seahawks were down 21-0 to the Trojans at halftime, but managed to put 12 points on the board before the end of the game.
The Seahawks look forward to facing Skidmore-Tynan on the road with a game time of 7:00 p.m.
The Bobcats got a victory tonight over Benavides, 41-0.
