Seahawks skin the Eagles 34-0 in Benavides

On Friday, Sept. 12, the Mighty Riviera Seahawks made their way to Benavides to face off with the Benavides Eagles. The Seahawks were able to secure their first win of the season with an impressive 34-0 route of the Benavides Eagles. The action didn’t take long for the Seahawks as Junior Jacob Soto picked off the first ball thrown from the Eagles quarterback. The offense took over and punched it in the end zone shortly after with a powerful run by senior bell cow Robert Mayo. The defense then got into the scoring action themselves when Martin Mayo and Baylen Tinsly combined for a sack in the endzone leading to a 10-0 halftime lead for the Seahawks.

The Seahawk defense played lights out the whole night only allowing the Eagles 46 total yards. Leading the way for the Seahawk defense was junior Joshua Russek who had two interceptions to go along with four solo tackles. Martin Mayo also contributed to the shutout with four solo tackles of his own. As a whole, the defensive squad played lights out never allowing the Benavides offense to get in rhythm.
